Lena Maughan Hobson, 83, born in Gordo on April 16, 1913, and a resident of Glen Haven Nursing Home, died June 21, 1996 at DCH Regional Medical Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lawrence Rogers officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at the Old Center Church Cemetery on new Watermelon Road.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Hobson, Sr., and brothers L.C. Maughan, Floyd Maughan and Noland Maughan.
Survivors include daughters Lois H. Mitchell, and her husband Bob, of California and Charlotte H. Hall, and her husband Jerry, of Tuscaloosa; and her son Woodrow Hobson, Jr., and his wife Pat, of Tuscaloosa; sisters Marie M. Parham of Tuscaloosa, Nona Lee Mayfield of Northport; brothers Roy P. Maughan, and wife Mellie, of Holt, and Barney Maughan, and wife Velma, of Northport; sister-in-law Londalene Hobson; brother-in-law Bruce Hobson; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Tony Sartain, Craig Skinner, Rick Vawter, Lloyd Clements, Ernest Porter and Chester Jones.
Honorary pallbearers include nurses and employees of the Fourth Station at Glen Haven Nursing Home, and friends of the Hope and Harris Lake Road communities.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church an hour before services.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to a favorite charity.
