Bernice Caison Porter Hardison, age 89, of Willard passed gently into the glory of her of Lord Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.

She was born July 17, 1933 in Pender County, the daughter of Arthur Quinton Caison and Julia Elizabeth Howard Caison. In addition to her parents Bernice was preceded in death by her sons, Joseph Allen Porter and Kenneth Ray Porter; and great granddaughter, Julia Violet Porter.

Bernice is survived by her husband, Carl Edward Hardison, Sr.; son, Claude Quinton Porter (Sheila); stepchildren, Carl Hardison, Jr. and Susan Ruddell (James); daughter-in-law, Wanda Mercer; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a faithful Christian and a member of Penderlea Baptist Church.

Bernice was a soft spoken, kindhearted lady who loved and served her Lord and her family. She made her house a home filled with sunshine, goodness and best of all good cooking. Bernice's sweet, sweet spirit, gentle smile, and love of family will long be remembered.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Penderlea Baptist Church with funeral service beginning at 3:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Pastor Josh Lee will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Eakins Cemetery.
