Obituary for William Harper French, as published in the Union Appeal for September 4, 1952:

W. H. French passes away:
W. H. French passed away at Laird's Hospital sunday morning, Augst 31st, after an illness of ten weeks.
Funeral rites were held from Erin Cumberland Presbyterian Church Monday morning at 10:00 o'clock. Rev. A. C. Acton of Carthage, his former pastor had charge of the service.
Active pallbearers were Luther French, Ollie McKee, Marcell McKee, Perry Gill, Malcum Ezell, J. W. Thrash. Interment was in Erin Cemetery with Union Funeral Home in charge.
William Harper French was born feb 27th, 1878, in Newton county, where he lived his entire life. he was a menber of Pinckney Lodge No. 313.
He is survived by his wife Exah Wall French, two daughters, Mrs. H. E. Taylor and Mrs. C. D. Roberson of Union, two sons Clinton French of Detroit, Michigan, Hazel French of Gulfport, one sister, Mrs. J. R. McKee of Decatur, two half sisters, Mrs. Clarence Alexander of Duffee and Mrs. Herman Welch of Meridian, two half brothers, Bob French of Meridian and J. B. French of Decatur, one grand daughter and one grandson, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
