"SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Charlotte M. Saplin, 80, of Sheridan Village, died Friday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness. Mrs. Saplin was born in Colonie. She had lived in Schenectady since 1977. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Her husband, James J. Saplin, died in 1986. Survivors include four daughters, Cecelia Prout and Patricia Carao, both of Rotterdam, Charlotte Schaaff of Anderson, S.C., and Catherine Draxler of East Greenbush; a son, James J. Saplin II of Woodruff, S.C.; a sister, Frances Tice of Albany; a brother, Alvah Fox of Schenectady; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ellis Hospital Foundation, Hospice Unit, 1101 Nott St., Schenectady, N.Y. 12308. Saplin, jr., of Niskayuna, Wednesday, June 17, at St. Ambrose's church, Latham. Rev. J. J. Dwyer performed the ceremony. Miss Matherine Prouty was the bride's attendant and the best man was Bernard T. Saplin, the bridegroom's brother.
