"Mrs. Allie Slocum Dies At Age Of 77 -Mrs. Allie Slocum died Monday March 26, 1951, in Berrien Center hospital. Her home was at 705 N. Portage street. Mrs. Slocum was born Aug. 17, 1873 in Sterling, Iowa, the daughter of John and Sarah Powell. She was married to Tony Slocum on August 22, 1892 in Niles. She had lived in this vicinity for over 60 years. Surviving are her husband; three sons, John and Ed of Buchanan, LeRoy of South Bend; two daughters, Mrs. Ada Swartz Buchanan; and Mrs. May McGoy, Antioch, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Nora Sinvoil, Galien, and Mrs. Eva Hall, Berrien Springs; one brother Nate Powell, Plymouth, Mich.; 26 grandchildren; and 30 great-grand children. Services were held in the Swem Funeral home Wednesday, March 28, at 2:30 P.m. Rev. W. Ruff officiated and burial was in Hamilton cemetery."
Her husband was Kenard Slocum. She was the daughter of John William and Sarah (Brant) Powell and lived her later years in Buchanan, Michigan.
She married 1st to William H. Wooldridge.
