Melvin E. Aldrich, 88, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Ottawa Pavilion.

He was born April 29, 1921 at Ottawa, a son of Nelson and Theresa (Goetsch) Aldrich. He married Shirley P. Marek on June 6, 1997 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley of Ottawa; step-daughters: Dellania Lorensen of Naplate, Mary Santoy and Judy Wilson of Ottawa; brothers: Howard and Leroy Aldrich, both of Montgomery, IL; and a sister: Lucille Ducey of Interlachen, FL; 12 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great-grandchildren.

Two brothers preceded him in death.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Moose Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
