Fred Greenzang, 90, of West Windsor, NJ passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020. He was born to the late Max Greenzang and Celia (Horowitz) Greenzang on May 13, 1929 and grew up in Brooklyn, NY, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School. Fred received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The City College of New York (CCNY) in 1950. He was an avid fan of the famed CCNY basketball team and would often note that 1950 was the year in which they became the only college basketball team to win both the NIT and NCAA championship in the same year. He became an ardent fan of the New York Jets and spent every fall Sunday watching them play, either in his den or at Shea Stadium, where he had season tickets for 25 years.

Fred enjoyed a 50+ year career as an electrical engineer, starting with a job at Jet Propulsion Labs at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, where he designed guidance systems for missiles. The last twenty years of his career were spent at Applied Retrieval Technology, a manufacturer of automated filing systems that he co-founded.

Fred met his wife Trudy in Manhattan, NY in 1965 and they married on November 18, 1966. They resided in Dix Hills, NY for forty years before moving to West Windsor, NJ in 2009.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Trudy (Weitkamp) Greenzang, his two sons, David and Michael and their wives, Katherine and Ginger. He is also survived by his sister Thelma Shapiro and was predeceased by his brother Irving. Fred was a proud grandfather to Hannah, Jason, Emily, Jared and Zoe.

The Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at the Star of David Memorial Chapel 40 Vandeventer Avenue, Princeton, NJ. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Community Foodbank of New Jersey, 31 Evans Terminal, Hillside, NJ 07205, or online at https://cfbnj.org
