Frances L. Colbert, 89, of Loysville died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 at home.

She was born Oct. 15, 1913 at Philadelphia to the late Mark George and Ethel (Wood) Holtzman.

She was a chemist for the National Bureau of Standards, Washington, D.C.; a writer for Northern Virginia Sun, Arlington, Va.; a graduate of John Harris High School, Ward-Belmont College, Nashville, Tenn., and Lebanon Valley College; a licensed nursery person and very active in gardening; and a member of Centre Presbyterian Church, Loysville, and New York Avenue Presbyterian, Washington, D.C., Arlington County Rose Society, Neighbor's Club of Loysville and Arlington, and Daughters of American Revolution, Washington, D.C.

She was the widow of Elmer Ellsworth Colbert, who died in 1973.

Surviving are a daughter, Marcia Lynn Potter of Vienna, Va.; a brother, Dr. Thomas Holtzman of Harrisburg; a grandson, Matthew C. Potter of Vienna, Va.; a nephew, James Holtzman of Harrisburg; and a niece, Emily Ruckle of Bloomsburg.

Services were held Dec. 20 in Centre Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kenneth P. Osborne officiating. Burial was in East Harrisburg Cemetery.
