Robert was born Oct. 31, 1939 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. After graduating from Moorland High School in 1957, he attended the De Vry Technical Institute in Chicago. In 1962 he worked at Litton Systems in Calif. as technical writer. He served in the U.S. Navy Aug. 1963 to Feb. 1966 aboard the aircraft carrier B on Hamme Richard and The Hancock in the Viet Nam area. In 1966 he attended Northrop Institute of Technology in Inglewood, Calif. He worked for Martin Marietta as a technician and technical writer on the Titan Missile project. From 1967 until his time of death, he worked for Hughes/Raytheon Corp. as senior systems engineer No. 2.
He married In Jin Choi on Dec. 5, 1987.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Henry A. and Julia (Urban) Fiala and his brothers Dale, Glenn and Paul.
