Edward was the son of Mott Plass Jackson and Marie Jackson, the oldest of 9 children. He was educated in the Macon County School System and was a graduate of D. F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. After high school, he attended CDL Training School. He was employed with Southern Frozen Foods in Montezuma, Georgia for over 45 years until his retirement. He was a member of Mount Pleasant/Travelers Rest CME Church in Montezuma, Georgia where he served on the Steward Board.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Charlie Jackson, Nathaniel Jackson and Cordel Jackson.

1 Step-Daughter: Angela Shelley.
Mother: Marie Jackson.
3 Sisters: Helen Williams, Emma Jackson and Julia Tookes(Isaiah).
2 Brothers: Willie Jackson and Reginald Jackson.
