James L. Losey, 74, served in the Navy during Korean War

James L. "Jim" Losey, 74, of North Vernon died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Hospice Inpatient Facility in Columbus after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

A Masonic Service was held Monday at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home. Burial was at Vernon Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 2021 and the United States Navy.

Mr. Losey was a 1950 graduate of Vernon High School. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He attended Purdue University. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 59 of North Vernon. He was employed at Vernco, Sears and Columbus Regional Hospital. He enjoyed golf.

Born Jan. 23, 1933 in San Jacinto, he was the son of Solomon and Lola Walters Losey. He married Dorothy Beck on Oct. 29, 1954.

Survivors include two sons, Jim and Bill Losey of North Vernon; two daughters, June Bower of North Vernon and Mary Hoskins of Columbus, two brothers, Dale and Paul Losey of North Vernon; two sisters, Irene Keal of North Vernon and Mary Fischer of Indianapolis; and three grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four brothers, John Everet, Bill, Colvin, and Charles "Chuck" Losey.

Memorials may be made to Masonic Lodge No. 59, Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Humane Society of Jennings County.
