Edwina Pearl Evans, 86, of Ewell, Smith Island, died Saturday, February 26, 2022 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.

Born October 4, 1935, she was a lifelong resident of Smith Island and was a daughter of the late Edward Russell Jones and Anna Elizabeth Brimer Jones.

She was a homemaker and a devoted member of Ewell United Methodist Church where she was active in the UMW. She was also a member of the Ewell Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the DAR. She enjoyed traveling, singing, going to the MAC Center, and dinners with family and friends. She loved being with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jennings Lee Evans, Sr.; her son, two sisters, nephews and niece, and four great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin Preston "Benji" Evans; her brother-in-law, Richard Alan Smith; her nephew, Eddie Russ Smith; and her great-niece, Shelby Faye Marsh.

A funeral service was Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Ewell Rec Center. Pastor Everett Landon officiated and was assisted by Pastor Jim Evans. Viewings were Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home and 7-9 p.m. at the Ewell Rec Center. Interment will be in the Ewell Church Cemetery.

A special boat for funeral passengers, Chelsea Lane, departed Somers Cove Marina in Crisfield Saturday at 12 Noon and returned following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ewell U. M. Church, Ewell, MD 21824.
