He was an honorary lifetime member of the Ewell Volunteer Fire Department and served on the board of the museum on the Island.

He loved sports but baseball was his favorite. He was an avid Oriole fan and also loved to announce the Island baseball games.

He is survived by his son, nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, and several great-nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin "Benji" Preston Evans; uncles and aunts, Harold Evans, Dr. William B. Evans, Clara Smith, and Edith Ann Warfield; niece, Helen Rae Lurton/Bill; brother-in-law, Richard Alan Smith; and a great-niece.

A special boat "Island Belle" will depart from the Crisfield City Dock at 12:30 PM for funeral passengers on Thursday and will return following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the Ewell U. M. Church or Ewell Volunteer Fire Department.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home for the wonderful care they provided Jennings during his residency.
