Musician. A guitarist and early Rock & Roll musician, he is remembered for his number-one, gold single "Butterfly" (1957). Born Charles Anthony Graci, in Philadelphia into a Sicilian family, he attended South Philadelphia High School and learned to play the guitar during his teenage years. Initially trained in classical music, he gravitated to pop and rock and landed a record contract with newly-established the Camel label. His hit "Butterfly" remained at the number one position for two weeks in 1957. This was followed by the Top 20 single "Fabulous" which achieved a number 16 placing in 1957. During the height of his popularity, he performed on the TV programs "American Bandstand," "The Ed Sullivan Show," and "Jamboree!" In addition to his national success, he was highly popular in England and was influential to Paul McCartney and George Harrison.
