Mr. Hamby was born in Wilkes County, June 9, 1940, to Thomas Linnie and Delia Nichols Hamby.
He was employed as foreman in the roughmill department of the Broyhill-Harper Plant in Lenoir.
In addition to his parent, Mr. Hamby was preceded in death by five brothers, Vaugh Hamby, Fred Hamby, Tommy Hamby, Clyde Hamby, and Jerry Hamby.
Mr. Hamby is survived by his wife, one daughter, two sons, four sisters, three brothers, six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
