Mr. David L. Benham, 76, of Wataga, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at OSF St. Mary's Hospital in Galesburg, Illinois.
David was born December 26, 1945, in Moline, Illinois to Kenneth and Fairybelle (Michael) Benham. He married the love of his life, Susie Benham, on August 1, 1970, at the original Bethany Baptist Church in Galesburg, Illinois. They spent an amazing 52 years together.
Surviving is his wife Susie Benham of Wataga and three daughters, Jamie (Joel) Ruberg of Rock Island, Illinois, Julie (Matthew) Benham-Tucker of Wataga, and Jenna (Jim) Hawkes of Bettendorf, Iowa. One brother, Kenny (Mary) Benham of Wataga, and one sister, Janice (Warren) King of Alexis, Illinois. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Isabel, Jonathon, and Jacob. Also, surviving are his three grand dogs Samson, Winston, and Logan. David is preceded in death by his parents.
David proudly served our country for 8 years with the United States Navy. Afterward, he worked for nearly 30 years as a Satellite Field Technician. David had a passion for vintage cars and loved his 1969 Opel GT. He loved watching TV and movies with his kids and grandkids. He also had a fascination for history and old war movies. David loved his grandkids, and food, and was an easygoing man who was ornery and fun. He will be missed by all who knew him.
