Laura Nichols Dies Last Night

Laura Ferguson Nichols died last night at the Waldron Nursing Home at 11:00 P.M. She had been ill for two years and critical for six weeks.

The Reverend Jerome Hyde will conduct funeral services at the Carmony Funeral Home, Shelbyville, at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday. Burial will be at Edinburg Rest Haven Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Funeral Home after 4:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Mrs. Nichols was born in Johnson County on September 12, 1881. Her parents were E. H. and Sharon DeHart Ferguson.

On February 27, 1901 she married Walter Nichols who died August 17, 1964.

Surviving children are Mrs. Edith Tucker of Shelbyville and Mrs. Ethel Bueche of Taylorsville. There are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Brothers and sisters are Larkin, Roscoe and Clarence Ferguson of Edinburg; Paul Ferguson, Mrs. Etta Matthews and Mrs. Elsie Reeves of Indianapolis. Three brothers precede in death.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the former Pisgah Church in the Atterbury area.

Services Are Set For Laura Nichols

Laura Nichols, 83, a native of Johnson County and a member of the Old Pisgah Methodist Church in the county, died Sunday at 11:30 p.m. in the Waldron Nursing Home.

She had been ill for two years and critically ill for several weeks. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Carmony Funeral Home in Shelbyville by the Rev. Jerome Hyde. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Edinburg. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lived With Daughter

Mrs. Nichols was born on Sept. 12, 1881. Her parents were the late E. H. Ferguson and Sara DeHart Ferguson. She married the late Walter Nichols Feb. 27, 1901 and they were the parents of two children. Her husband died Aug. 17 of this year. She was also preceded in death by three brothers.

Mrs. Nichols lived with her daughter, Mrs. Edith Tucker of Shelbyville, several years prior to entering the nursing home about one year ago. She formerly lived on R. R. 6, Columbus.

Survivors include two daughters, four brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The daughters are Mrs. Tucker, and Mrs. Ethel Bueche of Taylorsville. The surviving brothers are Larkin, Roscoe, and Clarence Nichols of Edinburg and Paul Nichols of Indianapolis. Her sisters are Mrs. Mathews and Mrs. Elsie Reeves, both of Indianapolis.

Funeral Wednesday For Local Woman

Mrs. Laura Nichols, 83, who made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Edith Tucker of 321 Wellington Blvd., died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at a Waldron nursing home where she had been a patient for 10 months. She had been critically ill for several weeks.

Mrs. Nichols was born Sept. 12, 1881, in Johnson County, the daughter of E. H. and Sarah (DeHart) Ferguson. She married Walter Nichols on Feb. 27, 1901, and he died Aug. 17, 1964.

Surviving with Mrs. Tucker is another daughter, Mrs. Ethel Bueche of Taylorsville, and four brothers and two sisters, Larkin, Roscoe, and Clarence Ferguson, all of Edinburg, and Paul Ferguson, Mrs. Etta Mathews and Mrs. Elsie Reeves, all of Indianapolis. There are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Three brothers preceded in death.

Mrs. Nichols was a member of the Old Pisgah Methodist Church in Johnson County.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Carmony Funeral Home here, with Rev. Jerome Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery at Edinburg. Friends may call at the mortuary after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
