Collier-Butler Funeral Home
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for Rev. Elijah Joe Mayo, 82, of Gadsden, who entered heaven's gates Monday, December 12, 2022. Sharing special memories of his last church service will be Revs. Michael Sanderson and Rev. Travis Stephens. Officiating services will be Rev. Fred Wiley and Rev. Lynn Head. Visitation will from noon until the hour of service.

Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery officiated by his son, Jeffrey Mayo with prayer by Garrison Long.

Rev. Mayo was born August 19, 1940 to Roy and Verna Mayo who both preceded him in death, as well as, his son, Kelvin Joe, daughter-in-law, Sheree, son-in-law, Raymond, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

He was a licensed, ordained minister and a veteran of the U S Navy.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Ruth; sons, Joel (Christine), Darron (Cyndi), Jeffrey (April) and "Little" Joe and daughter, Janet; 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; sister, Susie; brother, Jim and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Joel Mayo, Darron Mayo, Elden Mayo, Jr., Garrison Long, "Little" Joe Redding and Travis Stephens.

Honorary Pallbearers will be nephews.

In lieu of flowers Rev. Mayo requested that everyone spend their money on their children and enjoy Christmas or donations in honor of his ministry to any church of choice.
