Son of Wilhelmina and Frederick William Voigt. Married (1) Elizabeth Holloway, on December 19, 1855, in Nacogdoches, Texas; (2) Elizabeth Muirhead Howell Hancock in 1868.

Voight drowned when he attempted to ford the Angelina River.
