NELS AUGUST NELSON
Sandy - Nels August Nelson, 78, died at his home in Sandy Saturday at 1:45 a.m. of infirmities incident to age. Mr. Nelson was a former resident of Crescent, where (he) was engaged in farming. He had lived in Sandy the past 15 years. Mr. Nelson was born in Oringe Hollands, Sweden, May 18, 1857, the son of John and Annette Bengtson Nelson. He came to Utah with his parents in September, 1904, and settled in Logan. He married Fidelia Kofford January 24, 1884, in the Salt Lake Endowment house. Mr. Nelson was active in the L.D.S. church and civic affairs of the county. He served on Jordan L.D.S. stake high counsel for 25 years.
Besides his widow, he is survived by four sons, A.L. Nelson, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Lawrence E. Nelson, Murray; Paul E. Nelson, Sandy; Virgil H. Nelson, Salt Lake City; and one daughter, Fidelia N. Dawson of Ogden, also 26 grandchildren.
Funeral services have been tentatively set for Monday at 2 p.m. at Sandy L.D.S. First ward chapel. The body is at the Deseret mortuary. Interment will take place in the Crescent cemetery.
