Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation was held from 3 - 8 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday.
Mr. Doherty died at 9:46 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, in Jeff Davis Living Center.
A lifelong resident of Jennings, he was a graduate of Jennings High School class of 1932. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a T Sgt. He was owner of Doherty Furniture Store and Doherty Carpet Barn in Jennings. Mr. Doherty was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Jennings Lions Club, James O. Hall American Legion Post No. 19 and Jennings American Legion Hospital Board of Directors. Mr. Doherty never met a person he didn't like.
Survivors include his wife, Mr. Edith (Bruce) Nims Doherty of Jennings, two daughters, Kathleen Doherty-Ogea and Janice Doherty Benoit, both of Jennings; one son, Glenn Frederick Doherty of Raceland; two brothers, Daniel Doherty of Monroe and Dolan Doherty of Evangeline; four grandchildren, Chris, Rick, Nathan and Ellisa; and four great-grandchildren, Riley, C.J., Colin and Autumn.
