Maria F. Sierra, 86, of Las Cruces died in an El Paso hospital.

A rosary was recited at Getz Funeral Home Chapel and funeral mass was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with burial in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Monsignor James Madden officiated.

Mrs. Sierra was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, the League of Sacred Heart, and was a member of a pioneer Las Cruces family whose former homesite was where the present city library stands, according to a family spokesman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Sierra, in 1959.

Survivors included two sons; Bernardo Sierra of El Paso and Jimmy Sierra Jr., of Las Cruces; three daughters: Mrs. Herminia "Minnie" Maese of Las Cruces, Lydia Sierra of El Paso, and Mrs. Harlan (Lupe) Stamm of Las Cruces; one niece, Aurelia Hernandez of El Paso, and one nephew, Lazaro Favela of San Bernadino, CA; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Paul Maese, Jr., Ramon Maese, Enrique Sierra, Bobby Sierra, Rudy Sierra Sr., and Bernardo Sierra, Jr.
