Herbert Philips Fletcher, F.R.I.B.A., F.S.I., A.M.I.C.E was an architect in a talented and renowned family of architects. He Marden, Kent and Hampstead and was the son of architect Professor Banister Fletcher, M.P., F.R.I.B.A., D.L., etc., and Mrs. E. J. Fletcher, of West Hampstead, London.

Herbert served in the Great War with the Royal Flying Corps and 1st County of London Yeomanry (Middlesex Yeomanry). He achieved the ranks of Major and (2nd) Acting Lieutenant Colonel He died of fatal injuries aged 44.

Herbert was awarded the DSO (Distinguished Service Order)) and the Croix de Guerre (France).
