Sir Banistert Fletcher Fletcher, Eldest son of Bannister Fletcher, was an architect, architectural historian and Barrister at law. He authored, with his father, also an architect, the popular textbook “A History of Architecture”. Both Bannister Flight and his brother Herbert were partners in the their father’s architectural firm, Banister Fletcher and Sons, and collaborated on writing books. He joined the firm in 1894 and on his father’s death in 1899 took it over. In 1908 he qualified as a barrister. He was knighted in 1919 and was president of the Royal Institute of British architects from 1929 to 1931. After his first wife, Alice Bretherton’s, death in 1932, he remarried in 1933. He had no children.
