"ELMER AXTELL (Jul 1855 - 19 May 1912)
Newspaper: Medina Daily Journal, 5/21/1912
As mentioned briefly in the Daily Journa1 of yesterday, Elmer AXTELL, a prominent resident of Town Line, died at the Buffalo General Hospital on Sunday night. Mr. AXTELL had been in poor health for some time with a kidney trouble and went to Buffalo nearly two weeks ago for observation by a specialist. An operation was finally decided upon and it was performed on Friday. A growth was found much more serious than was anticipated and although the operation was performed skillfully, Mr. AXTELL failed to rally and death occurred as above stated. His ailment was said to be exactly the same as the one which resulted in his father's death.
The remains were brought here yesterday and taken to his home and the funeral will take place from the house on Wednesday afternoon at two with burial in the Bates Road Cemetery. Mr. AXTELL had reached the age of 56 years and had lived nearly his entire life in this section. He was a well to do farmer and highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Wesleyan M. E. Church at Town Line and was a man who will be missed by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
He leaves beside the widow (Aristeen J. ROOT), two sons, Alva, of Tonawanda, and Harry, of Town Line, two daughters, Mrs. Ward THYNG, of this place, and Miss Clara AXTELL, who resided at home, two brothers, Frank and Henry, and three sisters, Mrs. Levina WHITTEMORE, of Tonawanda, Mrs. Mary VanSTONE of Town Line, and Mrs. Valiere VanAUKER, of Oak Orchard."
