Two Young Women Burned To Death in Union County
ANOTHER SEVERLY INJURED
Accident Happened At Quilting Party At The Home Of A. C. Pritchard Near Olive Branch

Monroe, March 24.--At a quilting party eysterday evening at the home of C. A. Pritchard, in Union county, about a mile from Olive Branceh, two young women were fatally and one severly burned by the explosion of a lamp. Misses Wilma Davis, Grace Baucom and Lou Baucom were in a bedroom while the rest of the people at the party were in another part of the house. Miss Grace picked up a large lamp from a bureau and it suddenly exploded, scattering oil over the room and setting fire to the clothing of the young ladies. Hearing the screams, the others rushed to their aid and put out the flames with quilts. C. A. Pritchard and Ed. Baucom badly burned their hands in doing so.
Dr. Brooks was sent for and arrived twenty minutes after the accident. The young ladies were rendered every medical attention and it was hoped last night all would recover but Miss Davis died at 7 o'clock this morning and Miss Grace Baucom died fifteen minutes later. Miss Lou Baucom is badly burned, but hopes are entertained for her recovery.
Miss Davis was 20 years old and the daughter of Rev. A. C. Davis, Baptist minister at Olive Branch. Miss Grace Baucom was 16 years of age and the daughter of former County Commissioner H. L. Baucom. Both young women were popular and esteemed. The awful tragedy has cast a gloom over the whole community.
