Obituary from the Hebron Register, July 9 1936:
"Colista R. Sholl was born December 6 1855 in Porter County, Indiana and came from Lake County Indiana with the family to Kansas in 1874 and settled in Republic County where she resided for several years. She was married to Geo. Shoup at Haddam, Kansas on November 21 1878. To this union, three children were born: Mrs. Stella Boyd of Hubbell, Lee Shoup of Alexandria, and Jacob J. Shoup who passed away in Hubbell at the age of 23 years. Shortly after her marriage to George Shoup, they moved to Nebraska about seven miles northeast of Hubbell where Mr. Shoup operated a grist mill for several years. Later having moved to Hubbell where she has since resided until the death of Geo. Shoup which occured July 5 1935, since which time she has lived at her home in Hubbell and with her daughter Mrs. Stella Boyd and with her son Lee where she passed peacefully away June 26 1936 at the age of eighty years, six months and twenty days. Besides the members of her immediate family she leaves to mourn her departure two brothers, L. O. and W. F. Sholl of Hubbell and three Sisters: Mary Jotter and Sarah Joy of Narka, Kansas and Clara Reddick of Belleville Kansas besides a number of other relatives and a host of friends. In the passing of Mrs. Shoup it may be said of her as of each of us (as of the prophet Daniel of old) "But go thy way Daniel for thou shall rest and stand in thy lot at the end of the days."
