Prof. Isaac Newton Loomis, b. Manlius, NY, June 3, 1818: m. Sept 2, 1850, Agnes Heron, at Bald Ealge, Pa. At his home near Manlius, NY on January 25, 1908, and in the house in which he was born, Isaac N. Loomis passed suddenly away, aged eighty-nine years, seven months, twenty-two days. Graduated from Madison (now Colgate) University [located in Hamilton] in 1845, he was tutor in that institution, [Isaac's brother-in-law, the Reverend Hezekiah Harvey, was a Professor at the Hamilton Theological Seminary, which was incorporated as Madison University in 1846] taught in Tennessee, and in the University at Lewisburg, Pa., when that institution was founded, and after returning to the old homestead in 1860, was principal in the old academy and taught in the graded school. He was active in the church as a member of the choir, superintendent of the Sunday School, and church clerk many years, often reading sermons when there was no pastor. In 1850 he married Agnes Heron, at Bald Ealge, Pa., who preceded him to the better land ten years ago. One brother, three children and four grandchildren survive. Baptist.
