Fuquay-Varina - Ethelene King Pleasant, 93, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 5 p.m.surrounded by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church, 238 Chalybeate Road, Fuquay-Varina. Burial will immediately follow at Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Pleasant was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Elwood and Nina Griffin Walker; three sisters and three brothers.
She loved her husband Frank of 44 years, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and entire family.
Mrs. Pleasant retired from Cornell Dubilier in Fuquay-Varina after 40 years. She was better known by the staff at the Carillon Assisted Living Home as "Miss Pleasant".
Mrs. Pleasant is survived by her husband Frank Pleasant; daughters, Harriett Edwards and husband, JC of Fuquay-Varina, and Martha Weaver and husband, Richard of Angier; sons, Rev. Larry King and wife Pat of Fuquay-Varina, Quinn King and wife Sandra of Fuquay-Varina, and Tommy King and wife, Debbie of Farmville; sister, Ruth Street and husband, Bruce of Durham; ten grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina.The family would like to thank the staff of Carillon Assisted Living for their love and special care of our mother.
