Mrs. Mollie Gilkerson Thacker, sixty, a resident of Creek for the past thirty years, died Monday evening at eight o'clock at Rockingham Memorial Hospital after being stricken with illness three and half weeks ago. Her condition had seemed to be much improved prior to death.

She was the daughter of the late Franklin F. and Mary Catherine Crowe Gilkerson and was born in 1889 in the Friedens Church community. She spent the early part of her life there and moved at the age of 18 with her family to Mt. Solon where she lived until thirty years ago when she moved to Mossy Creek.

She was a loyal member of the Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church where she took a leading part in every phrase of church work.

In April, 1908 she married Samuel E. Thacker, an employee for the State Highway Department.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Glenn Arehart or Mt. Solon, Mrs. Lee Barr, Mrs. Norman Taylor, and Mrs. Lloyd Knicely, all of Harrisonburg, and Mrs. Jared Dunlap of Bridgewater; three sons, Ralph of Harrisonburg, Paul of Bridgewater, and Lester of Staunton; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Knicely and Mrs. William Kile, both of Harrisonburg. Another sister died several years ago. There are also six grandchildren and a number or nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at eleven o'clock from the Mossy Creek Presbyterian Church conducted by Dr. D. T. Beard, assisted by the Rev. James A. Swain. Interment will be in the family lot at the church.

The family has requested that pallbearers and relatives meet at Mrs. Thacker's home Thursday at 10:35 a.m. for a private service to be held before leaving for the church.
