Edith Leontine Spencer, 77, of Manchester died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born Oct. 29, 1930, in Flohrville, she was the daughter of the late Albert Otis and Helen Elizabeth Wiley Gamber. She was the wife of Jennings Spencer of Westminster. She was a secretary for the state of Maryland, where she had worked at Rosewood State Hospital, Mount Wilson and Maryland Public Television Channel 67. She enjoyed listening to country and bluegrass music, bowling, playing cards, watching her grandsons play baseball and maintaining her "Gone With the Wind" collection. She also loved animals, especially her dog Dolly. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children and spouses Kathy and Scott Trump of Manchester, David and Carla Unkart of Hampstead, and Kimberly and Daniel Unkart-MacKown of New Windsor; grandchildren Rachel and Christina Trump, and Kane and Cody Unkart; a great-granddaughter, Michaela Jade; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Lynn Unkart; her first husband, Frederick Unkart; and siblings Phil, Charles, Charlotte, Mildred, Melville, Jane and Larry. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, with hospice chaplain the Rev. David Bare officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Carroll Hospice Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157; or the Carroll County Humane Society, 2517 Littlestown Pike, Westminster, MD 21158.
