"Together Again"

Our precious Mom, Lorna H. Curtis, born in Ogden, Utah, April 12, 1926 to Delwin and Elizabeth Farr Hutchins, passed peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on January 12, 2008, surrounded by loving family. She attended Ogden High School and on April 17 of 1943 she married George W. Curtis, Jr. She would do anything in her power for her family. She deeply loved and cared about them all. She was a great lover of lunches with her siblings, country music (Patsy Cline, especially), trips to Wendover, and in earlier days, fishing. Mom had a great wit and right up until the end would joke with the hospital staff and doctors. For many years she was a PBX operator for companies such as Tri-State Lumber, Cudahay Meats and Travelers Insurance. She was very proud of being quoted in the Salt Lake Tribune as saying, "The operator, or receptionist, can either make or break a company."
Mom is survived by daughter, Judy C. Ellsworth (fiancé, William R. Cluff); son, Brent G. Curtis (Myrna); son, Kenneth L. Curtis (Hollie); grandchildren, Candice (James Williams), JaDee Christiansen, Jason Curtis (Andrea), Austin Ryder, Ryan and Gage Curtis; 5 great-grandchildren; and sons-in-law, Dennis L. Christiansen and James T. Ryder, whom she still loved and kept close to our family; brother, Howard Hutchins; sister, Edith Biggar; numerous nieces and nephews; and newly acquired friend, James R. Cluff.
Preceded in death by her husband, George; daughter, Sharon Ryder; sister, Irene Hansen; and her parents. At Mom's request, a cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 So. State Street, on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. We wish to thank the wonderful staff at Caregivers Support Network, especially Deedra and Danielle (Hospice), Sylvia (Social Services), Julie (RN), Cheryl Nunez (Chaplain), Father Stan (St. Patrick's Catholic Church), and to the caring staff at St. Mark's Hospital and Highland Care Center. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations that are being accepted at Zions Bank, 845 E. 4500 So., in the name of Lorna Curtis. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.jenkins-soffe.com
