Died. Thomas Bledsoe died at his home near Gower, February 13, 1901, of cancer, at the age of 50 years. Mr. Bledsoe has been suffering intently for over ten years with the disease and over the last three months was bedfast continuously. The remains were interred in the Frazier cemetery last Sunday. The family has the sympathy of many friends.
From the Gower newspaper "Epitomist".

Because of fear of cancer in those days, the railroad would not take the body on the train so the family had to hire a wagon. It was a long cold trip and the roads were nearly impassible due to rain and snowy conditions.
The grave was marked by a red granite fieldstone which has long been lost. It was in the east southeast part of the cemetery, as I can remember being shown the location over 20 years ago.
Martha Bledsoe lived for a while in Gower then moved to Tracy and finally settled in Kansas City, MO. After living in the northeast area many years, her death occured at the home of her son, Thomas Bledsoe, 906 Winchester. She lived to be 92 and her official cause of death was heart exhaustion. Martha was born in Jackson CO, AL, January 9, 1848 and came to Buchanan CO, MO in 1852. Her parents settled near Walnut Hill, an area west between Agency & Easton, MO.
