During her life, Wain and her younger sister (Julia) Felicie began to teach sketching and sell their art, having some success in creating miniatures, painting on glass, and fore-edge painting to books that allowed them to support themselves. She also produced pencil drawn advertising cards for the Royal Sovereign Pencil Co during the 1920s.
Although her work was eclipsed by her brother, she was also an accomplished cat artist, drawing in both black and white and colour. Her original works still come up for sale occasionally at auction.
She collaborated with Louis on 'Louis Wain's Great Big Midget Book', published by Dean & Son Ltd. in 1934
