Thomas Michael Dowdle was born in Pennsylvania, October 22, 1878 the son of Ellena Daley and Edward Dowdle. His young manhood was spent in Warsaw and Silver Springs. He attended school in Geneseo. In 1900 he was united in marriage to Miss Marie Isabelle Ribaud of this place. Two sons were born to them, Harold Edward and George Maynard, both of whom survive the former being employed here in the Salt plant, making his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Ribaud and the latter having been in St. Petersburg, Florida since last October. Except for a short time spent in Le Roy and Warsaw, the family has resided here. Mrs. Dowdle died in December, 1923.
About ten years ago Mr. Dowdle went into the meat and grocery business, which he carried on very successfully. He was well liked both in the business and social life, his accommodating ways and genial manner winning many warm friends, which in a large degree contributed to his success in business.
Besides his two sons, he is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Mary O'Brien, Mrs. Esther Gavigan and Mrs. Nellie Sonne of Warsaw and Mrs. Sadie Simpson of Buffalo.
The funeral which was largely attended was held from Saint Michael's church in Warsaw, Monday at ten o'clock a.m. with burial in Saint Michael's cemetery, beside his wife.
A large number from Silver Springs attended the funeral.
Obituary published in the Wyoming County Times, Warsaw, New York on Thursday, January 14, 1926.
