Doris E. Baumann, 90, of Peoria died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, at Lutheran Hillside Village in Peoria.


She was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Peoria to John E. and Maude (Ashton) Abbott. She married Hermann F. Baumann on Nov. 23, 1935, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1978.


Surviving are her son, Michael (Becky) Baumann of East Peoria, Ill.; and three daughters, Deborah Morici of South Elgin, Ill., Pat Strickler of Fairhope, Ala., and Sharon (Robert) Wilson of Dunlap, Ill.


She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Doris, one brother and three sisters.


Doris was a homemaker and also assisted her husband with his construction company business, Baumann Construction.


Doris had a passion for raising African Violets and was a past president of the African Violet Society of Peoria and won many competitions. She also was a volunteer for the Luthy Botanical Gardens for many years.


Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Bartonville.
