His first marriage was to Elizabeth Carr, whom he married ca. 1853. To this first marriage were born three children: Marion Columbus Casey, Pedro Castillo Casey and Ellen (Annie Isabelle) Casey. His other children by Rebecca will be added as time permits. Marion lived to the age of 92, and saw service in the Civil War, possibly serving at diffent times for both sides. At the Battle of Wilson's Creek, he fought for the Union. He was a gunsmith, and family tradition states that he was seldom, if ever, without a firearm. Unfortunately Marion's year of death is uncertain due to lack of proper documentation, but based on various other sources, and his known age, his correct death year is possibly 1924.
