Obituary - 1966

Funeral for Hiram Virgil Rodgers, 70, of Fort Worth, who died in a hospital there Tuesday, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from Elbert Baptist Church.

Rev. Walter Copeland of Haskell, Tex will officiate. Burial will be in Elbert Cemetery under direction of Merriman Funeral Home.

Rodgers had lived in Throckmorton County until 1940 when he moved to Fort Worth. A World War I veteran, he was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter Lulu Palmateer of Fort Worth; four brothers, A.D. of Elbert; Johnny of Henrietta; Jack of California, and Robert of Arkansas; three sisters, Mrs. Rube Evans of Sadler, Tex.; Mrs. Rosie Whitmire of Sacramento, Calif; and Mrs. Maggie McGee of Montague,Tex.; and two grandsons. Nephews will be pallbearers.
