Funeral services for Flora Kiel, 92, of Pease were held Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with the Rev. David Smit officiating.

Burial followed at Pease Cemetery. Music was provided by Lois Roelofs and Shirley Guerkink. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Debra Peel, Denise Haliburton, Greg Kiel, Janelle Hsia, Michelle Fryhover, Michael Whitcomb, Darcy Johnson, Jason Sanford, Jeff Sanford, Heather Bisson-Dale and Renee Lunemann.

She died on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Fairview Northland Regional Hospital in Princeton.

Flora was born Oct. 1, 1914 to Evert and Florence (Vande Linde) Winters in Prinsburg, Minn. She grew up near Pease and attended the Riverside School. She married George Kiel on June 17, 1938 at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. They made their home on a farm near Pease where they farmed and raised their children.

In 1974, they sold the farm and kept a portion of the land to build a new home there. George preceded Flora in death in 1985. Flora was a lifetime member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, reading, crocheting and playing Yahtzee.

She is survived by her children, Ray of Milaca, Don and wife, Carol of Milaca, Gloria and husband, Robert Whitcomb of Longmont, Col., Barb and husband, Roger Sanford of Milaca and Connie and husband, Martin Bisson of Brainerd; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Ed Winters of Milaca; sister, Ruby Woodley of Milaca; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George; sisters, Etta DeJong, Gertie Kessler and brother, Louis Winters.

Arrangements were by Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.
