Television writer, director, actor, and producer. A native of Brooklyn, New York, his fame rests mainly on the television sitcom, "Married With Children." The television series which he co-created with writing partner Michael Moye, ran on the Fox Televison Network for eleven seasons (1987 to 1997), becoming the second-longest running sitcom behind "The Simpsons." The series which featured actor Ed O'Neill as a bumbling, and womanizing shoe salesman named Al Bundy, revolved around his character's dysfunctional family, neighbors, and friends. Ron Leavitt and Michael Moye also appeared occasionally on the show in guest appearances. Leavitt also worked on "Happy Days", "Laverne & Shirley", "Vinnie & Bobby", "Unhappily Ever After", and "The Jeffersons." He was married to actress Sharyn Leavitt who passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2005. He died from lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles.
