Virginia I. Welliver, age 100, of Howard Lake formerly Litchfield died on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Howard Lake. Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Lighthouse Church in Litchfield with Pastor Chris Castilleja officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Wednesday morning until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in the Eden Lake Cemetery by Eden Valley. Virginia Idella Welliver, the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Harris) Flanders, was born on February 23, 1909, in Union Grove Township, Meeker County. After graduating from High School she was united in marriage to Chester Welliver. Together they farmed near Eden Valley until the early 1970s when they moved to Litchfield. Virginia moved to Howard Lake about ten years ago and has lived there since. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Litchfield. Virginia was a very proper lady and embraced old values. She enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to music. She also enjoyed watching Johnny Carson and a few other programs, which other than the news, was about all she watched on television. She is survived by her granddaughters; Terry (and Dalyn) Whittlef of St. Francis and Meghan Welliver of the Twin City area, sisters; Ethel Glenz of Crosby and Margie Holifer of Paynesville. She was preceded in death by her husband Chester, son James and brothers and sisters.
