Ruth Evelyn Brewer Smith, 90, widow of Gordon Newton Smith, died Oct. 31, 2022 at her residence in Lexington, KY. Born Feb. 14, 1932 in Harrodsburg, KY, she was the only child of the late Lucien Ray and Wanda Marie Poulter Brewer. Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of Lafayette Christian Church and served as the church secretary. She was a loving servant and caregiver, an exceptional seamstress and an avid bridge player. Mostly she was a wonderful wife and mother and that is all she ever truly wanted to be in life. Survivors include a son, Gordon (Cathy) Smith, Winchester, KY; a daughter, Pamela (Rick) Foster, Ocala, FL; four grandchildren, Rachael (Ash) Martin, Allyson Smith, Meredith (Eric) Sipple and Haley (Peter) Lindle; and four great grandchildren, Laekyn Martin, Bohdi Martin, Hudson Sipple and Hadley Sipple. Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Thursday, November 10 at Lafayette Christian Church, 1836 Clays Mill Rd., Lexington, KY. with Rev. Dr. N. Stanley McDougal officiating. Due to construction on Clays Mill Road the easiest access to the church would be off Blue Ash Drive off Harrodsburg Road. A private family interment will take place in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be 5-8pm Wednesday, November 9 at Kerr Brothers-Harrodsburg Rd. Memorial contributions are suggested to Lafayette Christian Church, 1836 Clays Mill Rd., Lexington, KY 40503 or Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1733 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington, KY 40504.
