"Elliot J. Bowman, 83, died at 8;15 P.M. Friday (Oct 16, 1959) at his home in Veedersburg following a one-year illness in which he had been seriously ill one day.

Born May 30, 1876 at Wallace, the son of Jacob and Katherine Wilkinson Bowman. He was married in 1897 to Effie Banta, who preceded him in death on May 23, 1958. He was also preceded in death by a son.

Mr. Bowman had been employed at the Veedersburg Brick Co. and formerly operated a blacksmith shop. He had been retired for some time. He was a member of the Christain Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Alma Stump and Mrs. Thelma Smick, both of Hammond, and Mrs. Armilda Wilbur of Veedersburg; four sons, Bruce and Joe, both of Veedersburg, Allen of Hammond and David of Cayuga; two brothers, Glenn Of Pine Village and Willaim of Newton; and a sister Mrs. Walter Gott of Rantoul.

Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Monday at the Wolfe Creek Baptist Church in Wallace. The Rev. Samuel Pritchard will officiate, with burial in the Wolfe Creek Cemetery. The body is at the Fishero Funeral Home where friends will be received after 7 P.M. Saturday." - Commercial News, Danville, IL
