MOUNT UNION, Aug. 16. - John C. Bair, well known in Huntingdon county, died Friday at 9 p.m. at the home of his son, James Bair, at Newton Hamilton. Death followed a brief illness of complications. He had been in good health when he left his home in this city to attend the Shade Gap picnic a few days ago. Mr. Bair was born in Shade Gap, January 1, 1848, the son of Emanuel and Ella McGee Bair. He was married to Miss Etta Fernberg more that 52 years ago, and to the union was born nine children, three of whom are deceased. He resided at Shade Gap most of his life. For the past several months he made his home in this city. Surviving are the wife and the following children: James Bair of Newton Hamilton, Mrs. Emanuel Barr of Altoona, Walter Bair of Shade Gap, Mrs. Ralph Patterson and Daniel Bair of Mount Union, and Mrs. John Houser of Altoona. Funeral services were held Monday at 1 p.m. at the home of the son in Newton Hamilton. The body was removed to Mount Union for burial in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.

MOUNT UNION, Aug. 19. - The burial of John C. Bair, 78, former director of the poor, of this county, and a resident of this city for eleven years, took place in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery here, following funeral services held at the home of his son James Bair, Newton Hamilton, where he died suddenly while on a visit. He ws born in Shade Gap, south of here, the son of Emanuel Bair and Ella McGee Bair. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Etta Fernberg Bair, and these children: James Bair, Newton Hamilton; Mrs. Emanuel Barr, Mrs. John Houser, Altoona; Walter Bair, Shade Gap; Mrs. Ralph Pattison, Daniel Bair, this city.
