Obituary
Cecil Earl Geter passed away on October 26, 2022, at the age of 91. A funeral service will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, October 31st at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, MS. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the funeral Home.
Cecil was born in Adams County, MS, on July 14, 1931. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Nita Walker Geter, his parents, Cliff and Etta Sanders Geter, his grandson Rusty Geter, and his siblings Aubrey Geter, Margaret Ann Murray, Freddie Geter, and William Geter.
He is survived by his son Clifton (Melissa), his daughter Carolyn Bonner (Robert), and his son Jimmy Geter (Leigh Ann); his grandchildren Josh Geter, Nicholas Geter, Austin Geter; step grandchildren Shondell Harvard (Kenny), Cody Escher (Crystal), and Sabra Walton (Casey); and his siblings Louise McKlemurry and Mary Catherine VanBuren.
Cecil's family was his greatest joy and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren during family vacations. His faith played a large role in his life and his membership at Redbone United Methodist Church was an important component of that faith for 55 years. Cecil retired from Capital Transport to become an owner/operator in A and G Trucking. In his retirement he enjoyed assisting with church functions, as well as creating beautiful woodwork pieces. He relocated to the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2020 to live with his daughter and son-in-law, until his passing at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, GA, on October 26th.
Cecil will be missed dearly by his family and friends and will be remembered for his kindness and love for others. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Redbone United Methodist Church.
