It is with deep sadness that we share that on October 22, 2022, Dalton Robert Dorris-Cobb passed away surrounded by his loved ones. He was 16 years old.
For those that don't know his story, everything about Dalton was special. Dalton was born on October 17, 2006. He entered this world quickly – so quickly he was born at his grandparent's house. Sometimes referred to as "D-man" or "Baby Dalton", Dalton was diagnosed with Duchenne's muscular dystrophy and autism at a very young age.
Dalton soaked in and gave love with his beautiful eyes and radiant smile. His smile was a smile that captured all that came in his path – the sweetest soul. He observed his surroundings, often with a straw in his hand, and the biggest smile you'd ever see, tilting his head back and forth, occasionally hollering with excitement, or to tell you to go away, all dependent on his mood at that moment.
He loved Mickey Mouse, soft blankets, colorful lights, and so much more. He enjoyed watching his big brother, laying on the couch with dad, and his special time with mom.
Dalton had limited mobility that decreased over the years due to his diagnosis. During a time when he could hold on to walls/counters to get around or stand, we remember his sweet giggle as he would flip the lights off in the room putting us all the dark. He then would quickly turn them back on, and then off again, over and over, with the biggest smile on his face.
His life is celebrated, treasured, and survived by his father and mother Johnny Cobb and Nicholle Dorris, brother Dylan Dorris-Cobb, grandparents Robert and Cathy Dorris, grandma Kathy Cobb, great-grandmas Roberta McDonough and Geneva Dorris, aunts and uncles Brittney (Jerry) Pruitt and James (Cecelia) Cobb, 7 cousins, many great aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with many beloved friends. He is being greeted in heaven by his uncle, great-grandparents, and many other beloved friends and family.
We are forever thankful for our time with him; all of our precious memories we will hold on to dearly. It was a privilege to be in your life, sweet boy. We will be miss you terribly until we meet again.
