Sue Avant Coughenour, 74, of Salisbury passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
Born in Norfolk, VA on December 30, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Lucca and Walker Lorenzo Avant.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Coughenour, who passed away on February 21, 2004; sons, Deron Lee Coughenour, Kevin Neil Coughenour; granddaughter, Destiny Coughenour; brother, William Avant; sister, Sandra McHelnie.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Brian Coughenour of Edenton, NC and Rhett Coughenour of Kannapolis; daughters, Erica Miller (Randall Geades) of China Grove and Rhonda Cornish (Raymond) of Landis; brother, Richard Avant; thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three on the way, also husband Richard Shelton.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Haven Lutheran Church, 207 W. Harrison St, Salisbury, NC 28144. A graveside service will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Rowan Memorial Park, 4125 Franklin Community Center Rd, Salisbury, NC 28144, with the Rev. Jim Vickrey officiating. Family and friends will be received at the home of Rhonda Cornish, 1301 S. Poplar St, Landis, NC 28088.
