He died of enteric fever (typhoid) at Bloemfontein on 19 Feb 1902 aged 23 years. He was buried on 20 Feb 1902. He is also commemorated on the Australian War Memorial Roll of Honour in Treloar Crescent, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia.

He is not listed on the cemetery Boer War memorial under the New South Wales Mounted Rifles.
