"Man Killed at Newpoint - Yesterday morning about 7:30 as east bound train No. 38 was passing through Newpoint, it hit George Ray, aged sixty three years, and killed him instantly. A local freight train was standing at the crossing where Mr. Ray wanted to pass and he walked around in front of the engine not thinking of the approach of another train and stepped on the track just in time to be struck. The body was thrown under the wheels, one arm was cut off and badly crused about the chest. The deceased owned a small farm north of Newpoint and was a teamster. He leaves a wife and a daughter, Mrs. Roxana Riley, to mourn. The funeral will be held at Rossburg tomorrow at ten o'clock."
