Lloyd Freeman
August 14, 1922 - October 14, 2022

Lloyd Freeman, son of the late William and Emma (Crisp) Freeman, was born August 14, 1922, at Vanzant, Missouri, and passed away at Nixa, Missouri, at the age of 100 years and 2 months. In 1941, he proudly served his country in the army during World War 2. After returning home, he married the love of his life, Ruth Melton, on August 15, 1947. They were blessed with two children: Doyle and Darlene. Lloyd and Ruth were married for 70 years before her passing in 2017. Lloyd was a wonderful loving husband, father and grandfather.

Lloyd and Ruth lived on a dairy farm for a number of years before Lloyd bought a milk route at Mid-Am in Cabool. Finally, he worked for Clinton and Mountain Grove Townships as a heavy machine operator.

Lloyd was saved in 1950 at a revival at First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove and attended there until he sold his house and moved into senior living in Nixa. On May 10, 1959, he was ordained as a deacon and he also taught junior boys Sunday school for a number of years.

Lloyd loved the outdoors. He and Ruth loved to play golf together and they played in several tournaments on various golf courses. They also loved to fish and they spent many hours on the lakes and always had fresh fish in the freezer. Later in life, he enjoyed being at the Senior Center where he played pool with his friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Freeman, his wife, Ruth, his son, Doyle, three brothers, Walter, Leonard and Don Freeman, and three sisters, Oma Luallen, Nancy Tetrick and Mary Ellen Collins.

He is survived by his daughter, Darlene, and husband, Jim Norris of Lampe, Missouri, daughter-in-law, Rita Freeman of Steele, Missouri, five grandsons, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives who will miss him very much.

Per his wishes, no service will be held. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove.
